My Story

Born and raised in the suburbs of Chicago, I was introduced to crocheting by my parents at a young age.  As time passed, I learned to read patterns and began to create more intricate projects.  Today, I love the art of crocheting.  There is always more to learn and create!

For me, crocheting equals productivity.  Many people say that crocheting is a relaxing hobby that helps to decrease anxiety and stress.  That may be, but those are not the reasons that I enjoy crocheting.  I love the end result - a finished product.  I can actually see where all of my time and effort went by looking at each individual stitch.  It may seem small, but it is an accomplishment.  In addition, being able to gift the items that I create instills a sense of pride and joy in knowing that I have made someone else’s day a little brighter.

Developing my crocheting skills into a business has been a dream of mine for over a decade.  I would come up with plans and product ideas as a hobby in high school, and yet, nothing came of it.  In 2019, I had a productive spurt and crocheted many items that I did not intend to gift to any specific person.  These became my first products and my dream of starting a crochet business came to fruition in the form of Designs by Gloria Lauren.
